South African hearts broke in Cairo on Wednesday evening as Bafana Bafana were knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations...

Bafana were dealt a cruel blow in the dying moments of the game as William Troost-Ekong capitalised on a corner to give Nigeria a 2-1 victory, booking their spot in the final four where they will face Ivory Coast or Algeria depending on their game later tonight.
Stuart Baxter's side had shown some real character to get back into the game as VAR made sure that Bongani Zungu's header was correctly given, but it wasn't to be, as their poor record in AFCON quarter-finals continued in Egypt.
South Africa have now lost all of their last three AFCON quarter-final games (twice against Mali in 2002 and 2013 and this one against the Super Eagles), but the players will no doubt be buoyed by the fact that they did pick up their first knockout game victory in the tournament in almost two decades (AFCON 2000 over Ghana).
Now, as the dust settles, the team will be jetting back to Mzansi this week following the heartbreak in Cairo, with Baxter expected to run a postmortem of the competition as the South African Football Association look to the future of the national team.
Which player do you think was Bafana's strongest against Nigeria?
