Baxter’s Bafana Boost – Full Steam Ahead In Cairo…
All 23 members of Bafana Bafana’s squad took part in training yesterday, and the same is expected for today’s session on MD-1 in the build-up to their monster clash with Egypt.

South Africa take on the hosts on Saturday night in their first ever Round of 16 African Cup of Nations game (the round was only introduced this year) as they look to reach a quarter-final outside of Mzansi’s borders for the first time since 2002.
Bafana’s medical and conditioning team have done a good job with the squad throughout the tournament so far, with Dean Furman having been the only member of the side that has had any injury problems as he was forced to sit out the last two games.
Furman, however, was back in full training yesterday and could well be in contention for the encounter with the Pharaohs tomorrow night in what will be Bafana’s first AFCON knockout game since reaching the quarter-finals on home soil in 2013.
As things stand, the only player who will not be available for selection for Stuart Baxter is Mamelodi Sundowns’ Themba Zwane, whose yellow card against Morocco means that he will have to sit this game out due to suspension.
Baxter has made several changes for all three games in Egypt so far, and it will now be interesting to see which XI gets the nod against the competition’s most successful team.
