After a wait of nearly two decades, South African football fans were able to celebrate a Bafana Bafana win in an African Cup of Nations knockout game...

Thembinkosi Lorch's winner for Bafana on Saturday night was South Africa's first goal in an AFCON knockout game since 2013, and the victory was their first in the knockouts since beating Ghana back in the 2000 edition of the competition.
Bafana have now won more games in Egypt this year (2) than they have in any of the last nine major tournaments they’ve played in since that AFCON in 2000, picking up two World Cup wins in two tournaments, one Confederation Cup win in 2009, and three wins in six AFCONs.
It's been a long wait for fans of Bafana to see their team put on a show in Africa's biggest tournament, and now - whatever happens - Baxter and his team have at least given Bafana's fans something to smile about for a few days.
