Breaking: Major Blow For Bafana’s AFCON Prep
The start of the Africa Cup of Nations is now just days away, and Stuart Baxter’s Bafana Bafana have been dealt a late blow in their tournament preparations.
South Africa were due to face Angola today in what was going to be their final warm-up game before facing Ivory Coast, however it was confirmed this morning that the Angolans have called off the game due to ‘lack of training’.
Bafana’s official Twitter account said, “Angola has cancelled today's practice match with Bafana Bafana citing lack of training as the reason. Angola says they have not had any training since arriving in Egypt two days ago.”
Angola's decision means that Bafana's 0-0 draw with Ghana will be their only friendly before the AFCON gets underway, leaving Baxter with very little chance to work on his combinations ahead of their opener against the Ivorians on Monday afternoon.
