Polokwane City Maintain Lead As Big Clubs Slip

Kaizer Chiefs have slipped to sixth on the Absa Premiership Q2 log, while Polokwane City have maintained their position at the top of the standings.

'Rise and Shine' have won three of their four games so far in Q2, as confirmed by the PSL in the latest standings issued by the league.

The Limpopo outfit has been in scintillating form under Kostadin Papic in recent times. The side has collected 10 points out of a possible 12 in their last four games.

The team played a 0-0 draw in their last game with Chiefs. The Amakhosi played successive draws against Mamelodi Sundowns and Polokwane in their last two games.

Stuart Baxter’s side has won one, drawn three of their last four games and collected six points out of a possible 12 in the process.

University of Pretoria are second on the Q2 log with Chippa United, Bloemfontein Celtic and Ajax Cape Town below them.

All the clubs are tied on seven points each. Orlando Pirates have climbed to ninth on the standings, after collecting four points in their last two games against SuperSport United and Tuks.

Mamelodi Sundowns have slipped further down the standings, after playing successive draws in their last four games.

Pitso Mosimane’s side are 13th on the standings, above newly-crowned Telkom Knockout champions, SuperSport United.

However, Chiefs remain the only unbeaten side from all the games played in the Absa Premiership this season. The side sit at the top of the log with 30 points from 12 games.
