News filtering through to the Siya news desk is that Chippa United will be hosting U19 trials in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.
This comes after the PSL’s announcement of the U19 League in the past few weeks where all PSL clubs will see their U19 sides taking part in the league.
According to the Chilli Boys, the PSL’s idea is fantastic and that’s why they’re inviting players from PE and surrounds to come for trials.
Speaking to the crew, Lukhanyo Mzinzi, the PE-based club’s PRO said they aim to develop football in the province.
“We’ll be having trials for the U19 following the announcement by Dr Irvin Khoza and Multichoice a few weeks ago. We invite players who fall under this age to come to Zwide Stadium which is at the centre of the metro on Sunday at 09:00. It’s only fair for us to use the team based on players from PE. We had a development structure in Cape Town, but we sat down with the chairman and decided to give the PE boys a chance," said Mzinzi.
“The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality has invested a lot in the club and we need to also come to the party and meet them halfway. We call upon on players that were born in 1995 upwards. They must bring their Identity Documents or birth certificates. We’d like to see parents coming to support the players as well."
Efforts were fruitless to reach the club’s Philippi-based development side, however, the crew will keep digging for their views on the U19 league.
