AmaZulu Outclass Arrows

ABSA Premiership

Result: Golden Arrows 0-3 AmaZulu

Date: 16 December 2013

Venue: King Zwelithini Stadium

Two goals by Thamsanqa Teyise led Amazulu to a comfortable 3-0 win over Golden Arrows at the King Zwelithini Stadium in their KZN derby.

Lucky Nguzana had the first goal scoring chance of the game for Arrows with just over a minute played, but his effort was parried out of danger by AmaZulu goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapinini.

Arrows then responded well when Bongi Macala let fly in the 4th minute but Siyanda Zwane did well to close down the space and force the ball out for a corner kick.

AmaZulu then opened the scoring in the KZN derby with 5minutes showing on the clock at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

Ayanda Dlamini played in Thamsanqa Teyise who slotted home a right-footed finish past Ryan Harrison in the Arrows goal.

Philani Shange then tried to equalise but his shot in the 12th minute went well wide.

AmaZulu continued to pile on the pressure on their Durban rivals and almost doubled their lead but Nkosinathi Mthiyane’s shot was well blocked by Mzuvukile Tom.

Usuthu then did double their advantage in the 21st minute through Goodman Dlamini who found the back of the net with his left foot, after combining well with Kulegani Madondo to make it 2-0.

AmaZulu who were without head coach Craig Rosslee due to illness, then wrapped up all three points and made sure of their victory when they scored their third goal of the first-half in the 33rd minute.

Nkosinathi Mthiyane won a free-kick which he took himself, whipping in a delightful cross for Teyise to head home from close-range and grab his second of the afternoon.

Arrows then had the first chance of the second-half when Bongi Ntuli took a shot in the 45th minute which was blocked by Msekeli Mvalo.

Abafana Bes’thende did push on for the rest of the second period and managed to create 12 shots at goal without getting on the score sheet or managing to claw their way back into the game.

The result sees them remain in 15th place on the log while Usuthu jump up to third place in the interim.
