Kaizer Chiefs attacking midfielder Mandla Masango confesses it was a tough game against FC Buffalo in the Last 16 of the Nedbank Cup on Wednesday, but believes his team deserved the win.
Ivan Bukenya opened the scoring for the Amakhosi before an own goal from Simphiwe Mtsweni levelled matters at the break.
Masango, though, scored the match winner in the second 45 to see his side into the quarterfinals.
Masango thought his side played well as a collective and deserved the winning result.
“I think we played well as a collective and that is why we managed to go through to the next round,” said Masango.
“It was a tough game, it is not easy to play against the so called small teams, but the most important thing is that we got through to the quarterfinals.”
Masango admits his side were probably not at their best, but in the end they pulled it together and did what they had to in order to progress into the next stage of the competition.
“We nearly gave it away, we kind of switched off, but we picked ourselves up and we kept going until we got the second goal and then it was game over,” concluded the Amakhosi man.
