Russia were the first team to secure their participation when FIFA decided to hand the hosting rights to the European country, but 14 nations have since qualified as well.

South America (CONMEBOL)

Brazil became the first team to qualify via the actual qualification campaign, and currently lead the South American qualification table by 10 points.

Second-placed Uruguay are most likely to follow the Selecao, and only need one point from their final game against Bolivia. Meanwhile Chile (third), Colombia (fourth), Peru (fifth), Argentina (sixth) and Peru (seventh) will battle it out for the final two direct qualification spots, with the fifth-placed team set to play Oceania representatives New Zealand in an intercontinental play-off in order to qualify for the showpiece.

Europe (UEFA)

Belgium were the first European team to qualify after securing top spot in Group H, while Germany and England followed last Thursday. Spain secured qualification on Friday, while Poland followed on Sunday evening.

On Monday night, Serbia, Wales and the Republic of Ireland could all theoretically still book their tickets to Russia in Group D, with Serbia having the best chance to top the group as they are ahead of Wales by one point, while Ireland follow another point behind Gareth Bale's side.

Iceland became the first new nation to qualify for their first ever World Cup on Monday nightm while Serbia also booked their ticket.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal, who are second in Group B, will face leaders Switzerland on Tuesday and need a win in order to secure direct World Cup qualification, while Group A leaders France are expected to book their ticket to Russia on Tuesday.

The eight best second-placed teams of the nine European qualifying groups will be drawn into four playoffs, which will be played in November.

Africa (CAF)

On Saturday, Nigeria became the first African nation to qualify for the showpiece in Russia after beating second-placed Zambia 1-0 in Group B. The Super Eagles now lead their group with 13 points after five games and secured qualification with one game to spare, while Zambia, 2017 AFCON champions Cameroon and Algeria will miss out.

AFCON record champions Egypt booked their ticket on Sunday night courtesy of a 95th minute penalty winner by Mohamed Salah. The Liverpool star, who scored a brace in the Pharaohs' 2-1 win over Congo, guided Egypt to their first World Cup since 1990, leaving Uganda, Ghana and Congo no chance of making the trip to Russia.

Asia (AFC)

Iran and Japan booked their spots after winning their respective groups in the third qualifying round of the Asian qualifiers, while South Korea and Saudi Arabia joined them as runners-up.

Australia and Syria, who ended their respective groups in third spot, will face each other in a qualification playoff. The first leg in Syria ended in a 1-1 draw and the second leg will be played on Tuesday, with the winner advancing to an intercontinental playoff against the fourth-placed team in the CONCACAF region.

North, Central and Caribbean (CONCACAF)

Mexico were the first CONCACAF team to qualify and lead their qualification table with 21 points, while Costa Rica booked their ticket on Saturday night. The final spot will be decided between United States, Panama and Honduras.

Oceania (OFC)

New Zealand were the winners of Oceania World Cup qualification after beating Solomon Islands 8-3 on aggregate, and will now face the fifth-placed South American team in an intercontinental playoff.

I love the fact that other result does not have impact on Bafana's road to Russia, Bafana simple have to beat Senegal twice...One win or Two draws for Senegal will be enough for them, They really have a big chance
