U20 AYC Gets Underway In Senegal

The U20 African Youth Championship got underway in Senegal on Sunday afternoon.

Much like the U17 Youth Championships that just ended, the four teams that qualify for the Semi-Finals will secure a spot at the 2015 World Cup in New Zealand in two month's time.

The tournament began with the hosts, Senegal, losing 3-1 to the Flying Eagles of Nigeria, with Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi scoring twice to seal the win.

In the second Group A clash on the day, Congo DR came from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw with Cote d'Ivoire on Sunday evening.

Monday will see Group A get underway, with South Africa's Amajita taking on Ghana at the Caroline Faye Stadium, while Mali will lock horns with Zambia in the late fixture.
