David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo lead the ranking overall, with both having an estimated net worth of $450 million (R8.1 billion), according to figures from Celebrity Net Worth, Forbes and money.com.
While Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Neymar, among others, are also in the top 10, six players just missed out.
Retired stars Kaka, Raul Gonzalez, Pele and Philipp Lahm, as well as current players Mesut Ozil and Eden Hazard, are all said to be worth $100 million (R1.75 billion).
Meanwhile, Samuel Eto'o, who made a name for himself at clubs such as FC Barcelona and Inter Milan, also ranks among the best of the rest with a reported worth of $95 million (R1.66 billion).
The 39-year-old is, to date, the only player to win back-to-back trebles with two different clubs, and is one of the most decorated players of all time.
