Of the 10 wealthiest owners of football clubs, five of them own teams in the Premier League, as reported by various sources.

At the top of the ranking is Sheikh Mansour, who is a member of the Royal Family of Abu Dhabi. The 49-year-old boasts a reported worth of $30 billion (R547 billion), according to Business Insider. He invested in reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, who have seen a spike in spending since Mansour-owned Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG) acquired the club in 2008.

The United Arab Emirates billionaire and ADUG have since added New York City and Melbourne City to the City Football Group, and also hold minority shares in a few other clubs.

Second on the list of football's wealthiest owners is Austrian billionaire Dietrich Mateschitz. He is the co-founder and 49% owner of the Red Bull energy drink, and is said to be worth $19.5 billion (R356 billion). He is involved in a few teams, the most prominent being Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls and RB Leipzig.

The latter were founded in 2009, when he purchased the playing rights of fifth-tier side SSV Markranstaedt. In 2016, Leipzig secured promotion to the Bundesliga and recently qualified for the UEFA Champions League knockout stages for the first time, eliminating Tottenham Hotspur in the round of 16 before football was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In third position among the wealthiest owners is the Agnelli family, who have managed Serie A giants Juventus since 1923 and became majority owners of the club in 1967. Andrea Agnelli is currently chairman and president of the club, and his family's worth is estimated to be $13.5 billion (R247 billion).

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, Arsenal's Stan Kroenke and the owners of Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan are also in the top 10 – you can see the complete list in the gallery above!
