The Football World Rankings are updated on a weekly basis, taking the results of the past 52 weeks into consideration. Points are earned by clubs in 40 selected top leagues and 10 international club tournaments worldwide.
The weekly ranking is calculated based on a formula that takes many aspects, including the strength of a competition, the strength of the confederation and the importance of matches, into account.
FC Barcelona remained at the top with 15 637 points, followed by Liverpool with 14 284 points. Copa del Rey champions Valencia, somewhat surprisingly, are in third spot, followed by Argentine giants River Plate, who lost the Copa Libertadores final recently.
Real Madrid appear in fifth position after leapfrogging Manchester City this week, while Copa Libertadores champions Flamengo of Brazil are in seventh spot.
Legendary Argentine side Boca Juniors, Brazilian club Palmeiras and Chelsea complete the top 10.
Egyptian giants Al Ahly are the highest-ranked African side in 48th position, while Sundowns lead the way in South Africa in 65th place.
