While Sundowns have claimed nine PSL trophies so far, African giants Al Ahly secured their 41st Egyptian Premier League title last week, extending their own record over bitter rivals Zamalek.
"The Club of the Century"– as they are also known – are the most decorated African side in terms of league titles, and sit in eighth place overall.
English journalist Nick Harris compared the most successful clubs in terms of league titles back in 2012, and Soccer Laduma has now updated the list, which includes leagues in countries ranked in Fifa's current top 100 nations and have completed at least 40 seasons.
Scottish side Rangers are the most successful club worldwide, having lifted 54 Scottish titles in their illustrious history, even though their latest one dates back to the 2010/11 campaign.
Northern Ireland side Linfield follow in second place before Rangers' bitter rivals Celtic complete the top three. Celtic, who have dominated the Scottish top flight over the past few years, claimed their eighth successive title in May, and now have 50 overall.
Uruguayan side Penarol share the third place with Celtic, while their bitter rivals Nacional have won 46 league titles. Greece giants Olimpiacos, with 44 league trophies, and Paraguayan side Olimpia, with 43, also still have more than Al Ahly.
Portuguese side Benfica, who recently celebrated their 37th league title triumph, and Juventus, with 35 Serie A titles, complete the top 10.
