Mane was crowned Africa's best player at the showpiece ceremony in Egypt on Tuesday night, ahead of Manchester City and Algeria winger Riyad Mahrez and Reds teammate Salah.
The 27-year-old claimed his maiden award after a stellar year with Liverpool and Senegal, which saw him share the Premier League Golden Boot award, win the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, and earn a runners-up medal at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Mane is only the second Senegalese footballer to claim the award, after ex-Red El Hadji-Diouf triumphs in 2002, and the fourth from Liverpool after Salah walked away with the prestigious trophy in 2017 and 2018.
The 2019 ceremony also marked the fourth time that the Sedhiou-born forward featured on the podium at the awards, having ranked third in 2016 and runner-up to Salah in each of the last two years.
The latest honour caps a fine year for the former Southampton and Red Bull Salzburg star, who was previously nominated for the 2019 Ballon d'Or and The Best FIFA's Men's Player awards.
