Jose Mourinho has been out of a job since being sacked by Manchester United, but a new report suggests the Portuguese coach is already scouting players for his next job and recently watched an African star.
The 56-year-old was seen at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium on Sunday, watching Lille’s game against Keagan Dolly’s Montpellier, which ended in a goalless draw.
Mundo Deportivo claim Mourinho was on a scouting mission to watch Lille players Nicolas Pepe and Brazilian midfielder Thiago Mendes.
"Lille, we can say that it is the team feeling of the championship. There were a lot of problems last season and now they are in second position to look to play the Champions League,” he said after the game, as reported in Portuguese newspaper Record.
"It's incredible. There are very good young players. Nicolas Pepe is strong."
While Ivory Coast forward Pepe, in particular, seems to have impressed Mourinho, the former United boss also admitted to being keen on coaching in France.
"I see myself coaching in France one day," he added.
"I'm a man that has worked in four different countries and that likes other cultures.
"I like to learn a lot and to work in a different league would be a fantastic experience."
For now, Mourinho remains without a job, but he has been linked with returns to Inter Milan and Real Madrid, with both his former clubs somewhat having underwhelming campaigns.
