The plane carrying the German national side was forced to make an emergency landing during the early hours of Thursday morning.
The four-time World Cup winners claimed a 4-0 win over Iceland on Thursday evening to edge closer to securing a spot at next year's tournament in Qatar.
According to Sky Sports, the KlasJet flight left Reykjavik at 02h00 am this morning and was headed to Frankfurt but there difficulties.
As a result, the plan had to make a turn between Dundee and Arbroath before having to take 20 minutes to land in the in Edinburgh at 04h00 this morning.
The Germany national tweeted that the team are fine following the emergency on landing.
"Safety first. Safe stopover as a precaution in Edinburgh. From there, individual onward and return journeys are planned," the team tweeted.
Hansi Flick's men currently sit top of Group J in the World Cup qualifiers with five wins from six matches so far.
