The Brazilian helped out in goal during Paris Saint-Germain's Coupe de France clash with Sochaux on Monday night, after his side's starting keeper was sent off in the 90th minute. Alves, though, did not need to make a save during his time between the sticks, and saw out his team's 4-1 victory.
However, there are other outfield stars who gained legendary status after pulling off some fine performances in goal. Back in 1996, former Kaizer Chiefs defender Lucas Radebe became a Leeds United legend after putting on the gloves twice in one season.
His most memorable game between the sticks was a clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford, when Leeds' first choice keeper Mark Beeney had been sent off after just 16 minutes. "Rhoo" made several key saves, but could not prevent a narrow 1-0 defeat.
Felipe Melo is another player who gained legendary status in goal. The Brazilian put on the gloves for Galatasaray during a match against Elazigspor in 2012, and saved a penalty in the 90th minute to secure his side a 1-0 victory after the club's No. 1, Goksu Turkdogan, had been sent off.

Melo and Rhoo's performances were only beaten by a certain Cosmin Moti of Ludogorets. The defender had to replace his side's shot-stopper Ivan Cvorovic in the 119th minute of a crucial UEFA Champions League play-off against Steaua Bucharest.
Moti, who stood in goal for the penalty shootout that followed, scored the first spot-kick for his side and heroically saved two penalties to help his team qualify for their first ever participation in the Champions League.
