On Tuesday, Tuttosport released the next round of nominees for the annual Golden Boy award, trimming the 80-man list of candidates down to 60 players.
The award is bestowed on the footballer deemed to be the best U21 talent in Europe, and was most recently won by Matthijs de Ligt, who has been nominated for the 2019 award.
The Dutchman is joined in the final 60 by Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior, who enjoyed a breakout campaign last season. The 19-year-old Brazilian scored four goals in his debut season with Los Blancos, and is strongly tipped for a senior national team call-up sooner rather than later.
Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden is another player who has made the next round of voting after playing a strong role in the club's domestic treble last season. The 19-year-old has already scored seven goals in 38 appearances for the Citizens, and is one of the stars of the future.
Famous past winners of the award include Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe – to see 10 of the biggest names in this year's top 60, click through the gallery above!
