FIFA announced their latest rankings on Thursday, with Tite's Brazil moving into first place as 2014 World Cup winners Germany dropped down to second.

Lionel Messi's Argentina have retained their third place standing, while Switzerland climbed to fourth and Poland to fifth – their highest ranking ever.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal dropped from fourth place to sixth, while Alexis Sanchez' Chile stayed at seventh.

Colombia and Belgium follow the Chileans respectively, while Didier Deschamps' France are 10th in the standings. Both Spain and Italy remained outside the top 10.

Germany won the World Cup and Confed Cup but they drop a position whilst Brazil won nothing and again BafanaBafana haven't lost any competitive game but the statistics reads that we dropped to places. Fifa your source is biased we cannot rely on it it has insufficient information.

@micrein I beg to differ, we've beaten Spain while they were number one ranked nation in the world but did that influence the rankings in our favour? The answer is NO. We recently beat Senegal, Egypt and Nigeria but that doesn't make any difference!!!! What you are saying is not true, you've probably read it somewhere.

@takandalo FIFA rankings take into account several years of games. With every new FIFA ranking, the games from back then no longer get counted in the rankings. Brazil probably had some bad results then while Germany had good results. These results now no longer count towards the ranking, so Brazil now have gotten some more points while Germany has lost a few.

Well, this once again shows what happens when South Africa play friendlies against opposition that is low on the FIFA rankings table. It pulls down their average amount of achieved points thereby pulling them down instead of up...even if they win against lowly opposition. I mean ok, it's still better than losing against top opposition but Bafana are never going to crack the top 50 if they keep playing against teams that are ranked somewhere below 100th. They should be playing opposition of the top 50 if possible and make sure they win those games. That is the only way they are going to climb in the rankings. Chan and the Cosafa cup are a hindrance to higher rankings.
