Spain, Romania In Goalless Friendly Clash

International Friendly
Result: Romania 0-0 Spain
Date: 27 March 2016
Venue: Cluj Arena
Romania held Spain to a goalless draw in their International Friendly tie at the Cluj Arena on Sunday night.
The Tricolorii had an early opportunity to take the lead when they counter-attacked through Popa who raced towards the byline before sending a low cross into the area. Stanciu got on the end of the cross but didn't make good contact and sent it wide.
Shortly thereafter the hosts went close again. Popa gained possession in miles of space 30 yards out and sped towards the box before rifling a shot towards the bottom corner of the goal, but he sent it just wide.
At the other end of the pitch the visitors forced two great stops from Tatarusanu. Spain won a free kick inside the Romania half and curled it into the box where Gerard Pique won the header but his effort was tipped over.
The second chance was created through slick one-touch passing which resulted in Pedro getting the ball in front of goal. The Chelsea man tried to beat the goalkeeper with side-footed finish from close range, but he made the stop with his feet.
Veteran goalkeeper Iker Casillas was called upon to make a big save in the 33rd minute. A corner kick found Stanciu who hammered a shot at goal only to see Casillas stop it with a superb dive.
Stancu came close just after the break when a corner kick was swung into the middle of the box. The left-winger pounced on the bouncing ball and thrashed a ball at goal but it took a deflection and went just wide.
Romania utilised a swift counter attack again as they went in search of the opener. Andone sliced into the left side of the penalty area and tried to beat Casillas, but he lost his balance and directed the shot into the side-netting.
