International Friendly Report: Portugal v Egypt 23 March 2018
Result: Portugal 2-1 Egypt
Date: 23 March 2018
Venue: Letzigrund Stadion
Cristiano Ronaldo bagged two goals in second-half stoppage time to earn Portugal a 2-1 win over Mohamed Salah's Egypt on Friday evening.
Real Madrid star Ronaldo started the encounter for the European champions, while Liverpool ace Salah also started for the visitors.
Abdallah Said carved out the game's first chance after eight minutes when he forced goalkeeper Beto into a fine save from 18-yards out.
Portugal took a while to get going but they went close to taking the lead after 26 minutes when Ronaldo's strike was cleared off the line.
The home side thought they had a goal shortly before the break but Ronaldo's header was ruled out after the forward was flagged for offside.
That proved to be the final chance of the half as the sides went into the break goalless.
However, it was Egypt who took the lead in the 56th minute as El Said pulled back for Salah, who sent the ball into the bottom corner.
After waves of attack, Portugal managed to level matters in the second minute of stoppage time with Ronaldo heading home Ricardo Quaresma's cross.
Ronaldo was not done there as he bagged the winning goal with the final move of the game with another header off a Quaresma cross.
