Portugal warmed up for their upcoming UEFA Nations League clashes with a 7-0 thrashing of Andorra on Wednesday evening.
Fernando Santos' side grabbed their first goal in the eighth minute when Pedro Neto smashed in with his left foot from inside the area. Initially, Nelson Semedo’s cross had been nodded down by Paulinho to Sergio Oliveira, who played a simple pass to set Neto up for his first international goal.
In the 10th minute, Josep Gomes pulled off an excellent save diving to low to his right to stop Renato Sanches' effort from 25 yards out. The midfielder had found acres of space before drilling his shot low and hard from range.
It was another goal on debut on the half-hour mark, but this time it was for Paulinho, who ghosted inside Rodrigues before prodding home Semedo’s near-post cross.
In the 25th minute, Rui sneaked in at the back post to head down Oliveira's pass to Paulinho, whose left-footed shot was into the ground and looked to be bouncing over Gomes, only for the goalkeeper to stretch and tip it over the crossbar.
Sanches got in on the act in the 56th minute as he slotted a right-footed placed finish past Gomes, who had rushed out of his goal to intercept Cristiano Ronaldo’s pass into the area.
Paulinho got his second on debut in the 61st minute as the forward headed powerfully to Gomes’ right and into the top corner.
It only got worse for Andorra in the 76th minute as Emili Garcia prodded at a clearance and deflected one into his own net past Gomes. Bernardo Silva had done well on the right to cut inside, ignoring the run of Nelson Semedo before shooting towards the far post.
In the 85th minute, Ronaldo finally got his goal as he headed past Gomes at the back post and Joao Felix also got in on the act two minutes later when he smashed past Gomes from inside the area with a left-footed volley.
