Nigeria Suffer Defeat In Final World Cup Warm-Up Clash
Nigeria suffered a 1-0 defeat to Czech Republic in their final World Cup warm up clash at the Rudolf-Tonn-Stadion on Wednesday afternoon.
The Super Eagles came into the encounter on the back of a 2-1 defeat to England at Wembley Stadium over the weekend.
The Nigerians were lively in the opening 15 minutes of the encounter, with Victor Moses going close to scoring on two occasions.
However, it was the Czech's who broke the deadlock on 25 minutes thanks to a strike from defender Tomas Kalas.
Gernot Rohr's did have a couple chances to pull level before the break as Ogu went the closet with a header that sailed just wide of the upright.
After a quiet opening to the half, Nigeria could have leveled matters on the hour mark although Brian Idowu failed to hit the target from close range.
The chances continued to fall for Idowu as he was afforded another opportunity in the 67th minute but he opted to lob the goalkeeper and his effort sailed over the bar.
The likes of Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho were introduced for the final 15 minutes as Nigeria pushed for an equaliser.
