EPL Stars Shine As Nigeria Brush Aside Togo

International Friendly

Result: Nigeria 3-0 Togo

Date: 01 June 2017

Venue: Stade Municipal de Saint Leau a Foret

Nigeria warmed up for their AFCON qualifier against Bafana Bafana with a 3-0 win over Togo with a couple of their English Premier League stars playing a big role.

The Hawks were without the services of captain and talisman, Emmanuel Adebayor for the encounter,

The Super Eagles broke the deadlock after just three minutes when Ahmed Musa slotted home from close range, after the Togolese goalkeeper failed to hold on to Alex Iwobi's cross.

The lead was doubled in the 17th minute as Musa bagged his second with Iwobi picking up his second assist.

Gernot Rohr continued to dominate and bagged a third goal 10 minutes later when Kelechi Iheanacho slotted home from close range.

Despite's the Nigerian's first-half dominance, the score remained 3-0 at halftime break.

The Super Eagles opted for a couple changes in the second half, as Victor Osimhen and Arsenal target Henry Onyekuru.

Togo, on the other hand, failed to mount any serious attempts at Ikechukwu Ezenwa for most of the encounter.

Rohr withdrew the likes of Iwobi and Iheanacho, and introduced Sikru Olatunbosun and Olanrewaju Kayode as they saw out the closing stages with ease,

Stuart Baxter's charges will lock horns with the Super Eagles in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday, 10 June 2017.
