Result: Netherlands 5-0 Ivory Coast
Date: 04 June 2017
Venue: De Kuip
Netherlands proved too strong for African giants, Ivory Coast as they romped to a 5-0 win in an international friendly on Sunday evening.
The Dutch broke the deadlock after 13 minutes as an un-marked Joel Veltman headed home Memphis Depay's in-swinging corner.
Ivory Coast nearly pulled themselves level in the 25th minute but Jasper Cillessen produced a superb save to push Maxwel Cornet's header onto the upright.
However, Netherlands were awarded a penalty in the 32nd minute when Vincent Janssen was brought down by Sangare. Arjen Robben stepped up and converted the spot-kick, 2-0
It was 3-0 four minutes later, as Robben turned provider as his corner for Veltman, who headed home for his second of the game.
The Ivorians had a fare share of the possession, but were unable to carve out chances for the rest of the first half.
The home side pushed for more goals in the second half and should have increased their lead in the 55th minute but Janssen fired wide horribly wide with only Sangare to beat.
Dick Advocaat's charges eventually grabbed their fourth in the 69th minute as Davy Klaasen registered his name on the score-sheet with a close range finish.
Netherlands were not done there, as Janssen recorded his name on the score-sheet by slotting home from close range, after Georginio Wijnaldum's initial effort was saved, 5-0.
