Italy warmed up for their 2018 World Cup qualifier with a 3-0 win over Uruguay, who were without Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani.
Uruguay were without the services of star strikers, Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani. While, the hosts opted to start Gianluigi Donnarumma over Gianluigi Buffon.
The Italians went ahead after just seven minutes when Jose Gimenez's attempted tackle saw him knock the ball into his own net.
The home side were dealt a blow after 18 minutes as Claudio Marchisio was forced off with an injury. He was replaced by Riccardo Montolivo.
Uruguay, on the other hand, were finding it tough to maintain possession of the ball and struggled to carve out clear-cut chances.
That trend continued for both sides for the rest of the opening stanza, as Italy went into the break with a one-goal advantage.
Both sides opted for a change at the start of the second half, as Eder replaced Andrea Belotti, while Uruguay introduced Christian Stuani.
The Uruguayans continued to struggle as the second half went on and offered very little in the attack.
The first chance of the second half arrived after 75 minutes when an un-marked Eder managed to head wide of the upright from close range.
Fernando Muslera came to Uruguay's rescue three minutes later, as he produced a super save to keep out Stephan El Shaarawy's curling effort.
However, Italy eventually doubled their lead in 82nd minute as Eder registered his name on the score-sheet with a finish into the top corner.
The hosts were awarded a penalty in stoppage time when El Shaarawy was brought down in the box. Daniele De Rossi converted the spot-kick to seal the victory, 3-0.
