Kylian Mbappe's late goal salvaged a 1-1 draw for France in their final World Cup warm-up clash, against the United States of America on Saturday evening.
Paul Pogba almost sensationally opened the scoring for France in the fifth minute with a curling strike that rattled the upright.
Olivier Giroud had the chance to send Les Bleus ahead in the 10th minute with an opportunity at the back post but his header was smothered by USA goalkeeper Zack Steffen.
The visitors struggled to keep up with the tempo and pace of Didier Deschamps’ charges and appeared vulnerable at the back.
Paris Saint-Germain star Mbappe also had a chance to break the deadlock for France in the 27th minute with a fierce drive that was superbly turned away by Steffen.
USA surprisingly broke the deadlock a minute before the break through Julian Green, who squeezed home a strike at the near post after France failed to clear their lines, 0-1.
Green found the back of the net again for the visitors three minutes into the second stanza but his goal was disallowed for offside.
The hosts were losing their spark in front of goals with 20 minutes to go as the USA were limiting them to long-range strikes and set-plays.
However, Mbappe rescued France 12 minutes before time by netting with a low shot into the far corner after Dave Sarachan’s troops let their guard down, 1-1.
