Result: England 1-0 Switzerland
Date: 11 September 2018
Venue: King Power Stadium
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was on target for the second straight game for England, who defeated Switzerland 1-0 at the King Power Stadium.
The Three Lions were pushing for a return to winning ways after losing 2-1 to Spain over the weekend, while Switzerland thumped Iceland 6-0 in their UEFA Nations League opener.
Gareth Southgate made wholesale changes from the weekend's Nations League clash, with only Rashford and Harry Maguire retaining their spots.
The game got off to a slow start as neither side looked threatening, which led to a lack of chances in the opening 20 minutes.
The Swiss, however, went close to finding the breakthrough after 36 minutes with Mario Gavranović and Ricardo Rodriguez going close in quick succession.
England did manage to carve out a chance just before the break as Danny Rose's cross found Danny Welbeck, whose close range strike was palmed away by Yann Sommer.
The opening goal arrived 10 minutes into the second half as Kyle Walker's impressive cross found Rashford, who had the simple task of slotting home from six-yards out.
Southgate then made three alterations as Jesse Lingard, Harry Kane and John Stones were introduced for the final 30 minutes of the half.
The tempo fizzled out towards the final 15 minutes of the second half, with the Swiss showing no real attacking threat despite being a goal down.
That was the trend for the rest of the half as the Three Lions hung on for the victory.
