Neymar Frustrated As Brazil Stumble Against England
International Friendly Report: England v Brazil 14 November 2017
Result: England 0-0 Brazil
Venue: Wembley Stadium
Date: 14 November 2017
A resilient England held Brazil to a 0-0 draw in a Tuesday night friendly at Wembley Stadium.
Brazil dominated the game from the start, but they were unable to create much in the way of early chances.
Neymar missed the target from long range both in the 11th minute and in the 28th, while Gabriel Jesus — as threatening as he looked — had trouble beating the offside trap.
The teams went into the break all square, with little goalmouth action to look back on.
Brazil went guns blazing into the second half, creating their first chance after only a minute. Neymar played a ball through for Jesus — and although it evaded him, it found Philippe Coutinho, who drew a save from Joe Hart.
However, the Seleção struggled to attack with the same intensity thereafter.
Tite responded to the situation by bringing Willian on for Coutinho and Fernandinho on for Renato Augusto in the 68th minute.
The latter injected energy into the midfield and struck the post with a low long-range shot in the 76th minute.
Nine minutes later, Joe Hart made an unorthodox save to deny Paulinho, blocking his shot at the near post with his chest.
At the other end, an Ashley Young cross flicked off Tammy Abraham and fell to Dominic Solanke at the far post, but Alisson did well to take the ball off his feet as he shot.
In the end, neither side could break the deadlock.
England created little going forward, but Gareth Southgate will be proud of his side’s defensive efforts. Joe Gomez was particularly impressive on his first start for the Three Lions
