World champions Germany were left stunned after they lost 2-1 to Austria in an international friendly on Saturday evening.
Manuel Neuer was handed the start ahead of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, despite missing most of the season through injury.
The match was delayed for over an hour due to inclement weather at the stadium.
The delay had no effect on the visitors as they broke the deadlock after 11 minutes thanks to a delicate chip from Mesut Ozil at the far post.
Neuer was called into action on 31 as the Bayern Munich shot-stopper produced a superb save to keep out Florian Grillitsch's close-range effort.
That proved to be the final clear-cut chances of the half as Joachim Low's charges took a one-goal lead into the halftime break.
Eight minutes inot the second half, the home side leveled matters as Martin Hinteregger found the back of the net with a fine volley at the far post.
The home side then took the lead on 69 minutes as Alessandro Schöpf latched onto a pass from Stefan Lainer before calmly slotting past Neuer.
Low responded by introducing Julian Draxler and and Mario Gomez for the final 15 minutes as the visitors pushed for an equaliser.
The World Champions pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but the home side remained resolute to see out the rest of the half and claim the win.
