Neymar Nets Again As Brazil Outclass Austria
International Friendly Report: Austria v Brazil 10 June 2018
Result: Austria 0-3 Brazil
Date: 09 June 2018
Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar scored for the second straight game as Brazil cruised to a 3-0 win over Austria in their final World Cup warm-up clash.
Selecao coach Tite made one change from last weekend's 1-0 win over Croatia, with Neymar returning to the starting line-up in place of Fernandinho.
After a quiet opening, Austria should have taken the lead on 22 minutes but West Ham United's Marko Arnautovic somehow failed to hit the target from 10 yards out.
Moments later, Philippe Coutinho went close to putting the visitors ahead but his long-range strike was turned away by Austria goalkeeper Heinz Lindner.
Selecao eventually broke the deadlock with 10 minutes remaining in the first-half, with Gabriel Jesus slotting into the far corner from a tight angle.
After a quiet start to the second half, Brazil doubled their lead in the 62nd minute as Neymar skillfully skipped past a defender before calmly slotting into the bottom corner.
Six minutes later, Selecao bagged a third goal as Coutinho played a neat one-two with Roberto Firmino before placing the ball beyond a helpless Lindner.
Coutinho almost got his second and Brazil's fourth in the 73rd minute but his curling strike from distance rattled the upright with Linder well beaten.
The Austrians did manage to carve out a couple of openings, although they were unable to bypass goalkeeper Alisson as the encounter finished 3-0.
The five-time World Champions will now shift their focus to their opening World Cup group stage clash against Switzerland.
