Cristiano Ronaldo had a penalty saved, as Portugal suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Bulgaria in an international friendly on Friday night.
Ronaldo squandered the chance to hand his side the lead after nine minutes, as the Portuguese forward blazed over the crossbar from close range.
The hosts were made to rue that miss in the 19th minute when Marcelinho scrambled the ball home to hand Bulgaria the lead.
Stoyanov came to Bulgaria's rescue in the 27th minute, as he produced a fine save to keep out Ronaldo's stinging free-kick.
Portugal pushed for a goal in the opening half, but they could not bypass a stubborn Bulgaria defence, as they went into the break trailing by a lone goal.
The home side were left frustrated by Stonyanov, the Bulgarian did well keep out Ronaldo's free-kick in the 53rd minute and pulled off another save six minutes later.
Portugal were presented with the perfect opportunity to level matters in the 69th minute when they awarded a penalty, but Ronaldo stepped up and saw his spot-kick saved.
It was one way traffic in the second half with Portugal pushing for the equaliser, although they were not helped by poor finishing, as Nani blasted over from six-yards out in the 80th minute.
Stoyanov continued to frustrate Portugal and especially Ronaldo, as he produced a fine reflex save to keep out the Portuguese captain's close range header in the 86th minute.
Selecao could not find a way past Stoyanov, as Bulgaria picked up an impressive victory on the road.
