International Friendly
Result: Panama 0-1 Uruguay
Date: 05 August 2015
Venue: Estadio Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez
Christian Stuani's 82nd minute goal handed Uruguay a narrow 1-0 win over Panama in an international friendly.
The Uruguayans were without the services of Luis Suarez and Edison Cavani, who are both serving suspensions.
However, Stuani started in the attack, alongside Deigo Rolan for Oscar Tabárez's side.
The game lacked a lot of goal-mouth action, although Stuani could have broken the deadlock in the 60th minute when he was teed up by Jonathan Rodriguez but the striker fired straight at the goalkeeper.
Diego Godin was also presented with an opening in the final 15 minutes but the Atletico Madrid defender directed his header over the crossbar.
The only goal of the game arrived in the 82nd minute when Stuani rose highest to head home Jonathan Rodriguez's set-piece at the far post.
Panama nearly secured a draw in stoppage time, but Luis Tejada's glancing header sailed inches wide of the upright.
Uruguay travel to the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica on Wednesday to take on Costa Rica in another international friendly.
