Sadio Mane, Daniel Sturridge and new signing Xherdan Shaqiri were on target to lead Liverpool to a 4-1 win over rivals Manchester United in the International Champions Cup.
The Reds got off to the better start with Mohamed Salah forcing Lee Grant into a fine save with a glancing header after 13 minutes.
United thought they had the opening goal after 22 minutes when Juan Mata slotted home, but the Spaniard's strike was disallowed.
Six minutes later, Liverpool were awarded a penalty after Dimitri Mitchell had brought down Salah in the box. Mane stepped up and sent the ball into the bottom corner.
Their joy was short-lived as United levelled matters in the 32nd minute thanks to a superb free-kick from Andreas Pereira that sailed into the top corner.
That proved to be the final piece of goal-mouth action in the half as the sides went into the break level at 1-1.
Jurgen Klopp opted for a few changes at the start of the second half, although the big change saw Xherdan Shaqiri introduced for his debut.
The second half, however, failed to provide the same entertainment as the first, with the flow of the game interrupted by numerous substitutions.
Sturridge restored Liverpool's lead with his first touch of the game with composed finish after being set up by Shaqiri in the 66th minute.
The Reds were awarded a second penalty in the 73rd minute, which Sheyi Ojo converted after Andrew Robertson was brought down by Ander Herrera.
Liverpool rounded off the scoring with eight minutes remaining as Shaqiri marked his debut with a goal with a fine acrobatic effort.
