International Champions Cup
Report: Bayern Munich 3-1 Paris Saint-Germain
Date: 21 July 2018
Venue: Wörthersee Stadion
Bayern Munich got their International Champions Cup campaign underway with a 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday afternoon.
The Bundesliga champions named a strong line-up that included the likes of Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Sandro Wagner and Javi Martinez.
Bayern enjoyed most of the possession in the early stages of the encounter, although they struggled to carve out chances for the opening 20 minutes.
PSG eventually broke the deadlock on 31 minutes as thanks to a composed finish from Timothy Weah that sailed into the bottom corner.
Unfortunately, that proved to be the final chance of the half as the Ligue 1 outfit went into the break leading by one goal.
PSG should have doubled their lead 10 minutes into the second half, but Christopher Nkunku blasted over the crossbar from 10-yards out.
Bayern managed to level matters on the hour mark when Martinez rose highest to head home Robben's set-piece.
The flow of the second half was largely interrupted by the plethora of substitutions for both sides after 65 minutes.
However, Bayern took the lead on 68 minutes, with the returning Renato Sanches curling home a fine free-kick from just outside the box.
The victory was sealed with 12 minutes remaining as Serge Gnabry's cross was tucked away by 17-year-old Joshua Zirkzee.
