Dortmund Annihilate Paderborn

Borussia Dortmund cruised into the next round of the German DFB Pokal with an emphatic 7-1 win over Paderborn at Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday night.

Surprisingly, Paderborn opened the scoring after 21 minutes courtesy of a strike from Srdjan Lakic, but that only seemed to awaken the beast.

Dortmund equalised four minutes later through Adrian Ramos before Gonzalo Castro gave them the lead on the half hour mark, 2-1.

The home side confirmed their dominance on the game with another goal in the 43rd minute from Shinji Kagawa which gave them a 3-1 lead at the break.

Ten minutes into the second half a İlkay Gundogan penalty made it 4-1 to Dortmund before Castro grabbed his second of the night in the 58th minute, 5-1.

The icing on the cake for Dortmund was two late strikes from Lukasz Piszczek and Henrikh Mkhitaryan which made it 7-1.

There were seven other DFB Pokal games on Wednesday night that produced a further 18 goals.

Bayer Leverkusen were also very impressive in front of goal with a 6-0 win over Viktoria Koln thanks to goals from Julian Brandt, Karim Bellarabi, Chicharito (brace), Stefan Kießling and Vladlen Yurchenko.

Goals from Dong-Won Ji, Alexander Esswein and Francisco Caiuby handed Augsburg a 3-0 victory over Freiburg at the Schwarzwald-Stadion.

Braunschweig scored four thanks to a brace from Gerrit Holtmann and goals from Emil Berggreen and Orhan Ademi which saw them down Reutlingen 4-0 at the Stadion an der Kreuzeiche.

Goals in each half from Lars Stindl and Thorgan Hazard (penalty) handed Borussia Monchengladbach a 2-0 win over Schalke at the Veltins Arena.

Goals from Martin Harnik and Alexandru Maxim handed VfB Stuttgart a 2-0 win over Jena at the Ernst Abbe Sportfeld.

Werder Bremen won by a single goal courtesy of an Anthony Ujah strike which saw them beat Koln 1-0 at the Weserstadion.

Only one game went to penalties on Wednesday night after a goalless draw between Sandhausen and Heidenheim at the Hardtwaldstadion. In the end Heidenheim progressed 4-3 on penalties.
