Nigeria U17 Off To WC Winning Start, Brazil Shocked

A round-up of the opening day's action from the U17 World Cup.

Nigeria 2-0 USA

Defending World Champions, Nigeria, got their campaign off to a winning start, after they defeated USA 2-0 on Saturday.

Second-half goals from Chukwudi Agor and Victor Osimhen were enough to hand the Golden Eaglets the win.

Brazil 0-1 Korea Republic

Korea Republic provided the first shock of the tournament, after they secured a 1-0 win over Brazil in their opening tie on Saturday.

The winning goal arrived 10 minutes from when Jang Jaewon rifled home a left-footed from close range to send the Koreans top of Group B.

England 1-1 Guinea

England and Guinea were forced to share the spoils, after playing out to a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Francisco Sanchez Rumoroso Coquimbo on Saturday.

Kaylen Hinds handed the English the lead after 61 minutes, before Naby Bangoura secured a point for the African nation in the 76th minute.

Chile 1-1 Croatia 

World Cup hosts, Chile, began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Croatia on Saturday evening.

It was the Croatians who broke the deadlock after just eight minutes, courtesy of a strike from Nikola Moro, before Yerko Leiva leveled matters for the hosts in the 33rd minute.
