FIFA’s task force have recommended that the 2022 World Cup should only be held in November and December.
Qatar won the bidding process for a summer World Cup (June/July), but temperatures in the Gulf state would risk the well-being of the players and supporters.
A January/February World Cup would clash with the 2022 Winter Olympics or the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and May was the preferred option of Europe’s top leagues and clubs.
However, FIFA argue the Ramadan (May till September) only leaves November/December as possible options.
"Stakeholders are concerned about playing in the summer, so we have to change to winter,” Sheik Salman, president of the Asian Football Confederation told BBC.
“That's January or November. They have to make a choice - either a) or b).
"But I think everybody agrees that in January or February it's difficult to play for the reasons that I mentioned before (Winter Olympics clash).
"The only option that I see is November/December."
An official FIFA statement read: "The proposed event dates have the full support of all six Confederations. The proposal will be discussed at the next meeting of the FIFA Executive Committee, scheduled to take place at the Home of FIFA in Zurich on 19 and 20 March 2015."
