Over the weekend, Lorenzo Insigne faced his younger brother Roberto in Napoli's 2-1 win over Benevento.
The duo became the first set of brothers to score in the same Serie A game since Istvan and Ferenc Nyers for Inter Milan and Lazio, respectively, in 1949, The Guardian pointed out.
Lorenzo is widely regarded as the better player of the pair, who both came through Napoli's youth ranks.
While Roberto had to go on six loan stints since making his debut for Gli Azzurri in 2009 and ultimately left the club, Lorenzo has been one of Napoli's standout performers over the past few years.
Roberto, though, only made his second Serie A appearance in September after helping Benevento, who bought him from Napoli in 2019, gain promotion to Italy's top flight earlier this year, and has often been in the shadow of his more famous brother, who has made more than 350 appearances for his boyhood club.
On the weekend, it looked like Roberto could steal the headlines from Lorenzo for once after giving Benevento a 1-0 lead against Napoli, but his older brother managed to score the equaliser before Andrea Petagna netted the winner.
"It's an immense joy to score against Napoli," Roberto said after the game, as quoted by The Guardian.
"I was sorry to score against my brother. Lorenzo scored a beautiful goal, a tricky one with him being right-footed.
"I am happy we both scored, even if I'm disappointed about the result."
Lorenzo and Roberto Insigne are not the only pair of brothers of which one is more famous in football circles than the other.
Pogba has two football-playing siblings, twins Matias and Florentin, but neither have reached the heights of their younger brother, who lifted the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France.
Suarez is another of football's superstars with a brother in his shadow. Luis' older brother Paolo managed to lift 12 league titles during an active career in El Salvador, but never made it to Europe like his younger sibling, who recently joined Atletico Madrid from FC Barcelona.
