Argentina Come Back To Beat Chile In WC Qualifier
Argentina secured three valuable points in Chile on Friday morning in their 2018 World Cup qualifier, winning 2-1.
Angel di Maria and Gabriel Mercado were on target for the visitors to help them come back from 1-0 down after Felipe Gutierrez's opener.
Chile hit the front in the 11th minute when a corner kick found Gutierrez who easily beat Biglia in the air to head home the first goal.
However, 10 minutes later Di Maria produced the equaliser. A Chile breakaway was pounced on by the visitors who countered with a few slick passes to give Di Maria the chance to curl home his shot.
Shortly thereafter it was the Albiceleste who led as Lionel Messi clipped a cross towards Mercado who finished acrobatically to complete the comeback.
The win saw Argentina move up to fourth in the South American group, behind Ecuador, Uruguay and Paraguay. The victory was only Argentina's second of the campaign thus far.
