France were left stunned after they suffered a 2-1 loss to Sweden in their 2018 World Cup qualifier on Friday evening.
The visitors saw a lot of the ball in the early stages, but they struggled carve out clear-cut chances in the opening 20 minutes.
France eventually broke the deadlock in the 37th minute courtesy of a fine volley from Olivier Giroud at the far post.
However, Sweden leveled matters six minutes later as Jimmy Durmaz turned home Hans Augustinsson inviting cross from the left.
France nearly restored their lead on the stroke of halftime, but his effort from distance sailed just wide of the upright.
Paul Pogba went close to handing France the lead 10 minutes into the second half, but his strike from the edge of the area sailed narrowly wide of the upright.
Hugo Lloris came to France's rescue in the 67th minute as he produced fine a save to tip Emil Forsberg's free-kick over the crossbar.
Didier Deschamps threw on Thomas Lemar and Kylian Mbappe for Antoine Griezmann and Dimitri Payet in the 76th minute.
Both sides pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but it was Sweden who got the vital goal through Ola Toivonen, who managed to score from inside his own half to seal victory for the hosts.
