Date: 24 March 2017
Venue: Estadio Municipal El Molinón
Goals from David Silva and Diego Costa inspired Spain to a 4-1 win over Israel in their 2018 World Cup qualifier on Friday evening.
La Roja nearly broke the deadlock after six minutes but Thiago Alcantara's long range effort crashed against the crossbar.
However, the hosts did take the lead in the 13th minute as David Silva turned home Jordi Alba's low with a composed finish, 1-0.
Israel nearly leveled matters in the 25th minute as Alba's poor pass was pounced on by Zahavi, who drilled his effort inches wide of the upright.
David De Gea came to Spain's rescue in the 43rd minute, as the shot-stopper produced a fine save to keep out Lior Rafaelov's header.
However, the hosts doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime as Vitolo's cross-cum-shot managed to sail past Marciano, 2-0.
Costa then extended Spain's advantage in the 51st minute as the Chelsea striker headed home Thiago's cross from close range, 3-0.
Julen Lopetegui opted for a double change midway through the second half, as Isco and Koke replaced Andres Iniesta and Thiago.
Israel pulled a goal back in the 76th minute as Refaelov rifled the ball home from close range, after De Gea could only parry Gershon's header.
Spain did carve out a couple chances in the closing stages and they managed to add a fourth goal in the 88th minute as Isco cut onto his right foot before calmly slotting home at the near post, 4-1.
