Andre Silva's second-half strike was enough to see Portugal claim a 1-0 win over ten-man Hungary in a 2018 World Cup qualifier on Sunday evening.
The visitors threatened early on in the first half as Cristiano Ronaldo and Gelson Martins went close in the opening 10 minutes.
Hungary, meanwhile, did not sit back and they should have gone ahead after 15 minutes but Akos Elek headed wide from close range.
Chances were falling for Portugal as the half went on, with Cedric Soares failing to hit the target with a close-range header in the 23rd minute.
The home side were then reduced to 10 minute on 30 minutes when Tamas Priskin was shown a straight red card for a foul on Pepe.
Portugal looked to take advantage of the sending off, but goalkeeper Péter Gulacsi produced a couple fine saves to keep the score goalless in the first half.
The European champions broke the deadlock three minutes into the second half as Andre Silva turned home Ronaldo's cross.
With the numbers advantage on Portugal's side, Fernando Santos opted for a change on 63 minutes as Bernado Silva relaced Martins.
Hungary nearly leveled matters in the 80th minute when Attila Fiola picked out Balazs Dzsudzssk, who headed over the crossbar from close range.
Nevertheless, the European failed to add to their advantage in the closing stages of the season half as they held on for a 1-0 win.
