The world’s best goalkeeper in 2017 has been announced, but unlike last year where a PSL shot stopper finished in 10th spot, no African is among the top 10.

Last year, Germany-based International Federation of Football History & Statistics voted Mamelodi Sundowns’ Denis Onyango in tenth position.

In 2017, however, there was no space for Onyango among the world’s top keepers, as elected by experts from 91 countries around the world.

Cameroon’s Andre Onana, who plies his trade for Ajax, was the only African among the 14 names listed and finished in joint last position with just one point.

Meanwhile, Juventus shot stopper Gianluigi Buffon was voted as world’s best goalkeeper in 2017, receiving 251 points. The Italian beat last year’s winner Manuel Neuer to first place, with the German finishing in second spot on 103 points.

Real Madrid’s Keylor Navas completes the podium after being awarded with 85 points, 11 more than fourth-placed Jan Oblak and 15 more than fifth-placed De Gea.

Khune is still amongst the best. He is performing at his best but is let down by POOR defenders both at Club and National team level. He is judged by lack of height yet he has the best ball distributions, Its just unfortunate that he was not given the chance to prove himself abroad. I am sure he would have come up tops irrespective of his height.
