StadiumDB.com, a website dedicated to the latest stadiums around the globe, have revealed their nominees for the latest edition of the Stadium of the Year title.

Newly-built arenas that were opened, and renovated stadiums that were reopened, in 2020 were taken into consideration, and a jury consisting of four industry experts will now select a 10-stadia shortlist before announcing the 2020 Stadium of the Year on 10 March.

In addition, there is also a "popular vote", which allows the public to select their favourite new stadium of 2020. Each participant can pick five stadiums, giving their favourite arena five stars, their second favourite four stars, third three stars, fourth two stars, and fifth one star. Votes are open until midnight on 7 March.

Overall, there are 20 nominees for the 2020 prize, including Ahmad bin Ali Stadium and Education City Stadium, which will both feature as host arenas at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The stadium that is home to Inter Miami, the club Beckham partly owns, is also on the list of nominees, but it is one of the smaller arenas present with a capacity of just 18 000.

In addition, Ivory Coast's new national stadium, which is known as the Stade National de la Cote d'Ivoire and reportedly cost $257 million (R4.2 billion) to build, also made the list of nominees – you can see all of the stunning arenas by scrolling through the gallery above!
