The 35-year-old took to social media this week to share pictures of his graduation after securing a Business Administration degree from the Lyon Business School in France.
Kalou, who won the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League with Chelsea, is currently on the books of Botafogo in Brazil after his six-year stint with Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin came to an end following a social media gaffe at the height of the coronavirus outbreak.
After claiming his degree, the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations winner took to Twitter to upload a post paying homage to his late father, accompanied with images from his graduation on Tuesday.
Kalou has thus become the latest footballer to secure a degree, with several others having also spent time off the pitch studying.
Another player who combined playing and studying is Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini. The 36-year-old completed a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Commerce in 2010, before gaining a Master's in the same subjects in 2017.
Chiellini is an alumni of the University of Turin, while South Africa poster boy Percy Tau holds a Degree of Commerce, which he acquired via UNISA.
