Ivory Coast star, Yaya Toure, is struggling to be fit for Ivory Coast’s World Cup opener against japan on Sunday.
The Manchester City midfielder has not been able to complete a full training session with his country's teammates ahead of the World Cup.
He reportedly underwent a minor surgery to correct an unspecified problem in Qatar last month, which was the reason for his late arrival in the training camp.
Toure also missed both of Ivory Coast’s warm-up games against Bosnia (1-2) and El Salvador (2-1).
The African Footballer of the Year was an instrumental figure for Manchester City, guiding them with 20 Premier League goals to the title.
Ivory Coast head coach, Sabri Lamouchi, has confirmed his medical are working hard to ensure Toure can play against Japan on Saturday, 14 June.
“We will try and do everything to ensure he can play,” he said as quoted by ESPN.
