The match is schedule to start at 19h00 local time in Natal, which is 00h00 South African time.
Group G has been dubbed the ‘group of death’ because it consists of Germany, Portugal, USA and Ghana – all regarded as powerhouses on their respective continents.
Germany played the opening game of the group earlier in the day and a hat-trick from Thomas Muller and a goal from Mats Hummel saw them thrash Portugal 4-0.
The two favourites to progress from the group before the tournament started was Germany and Portugal, but with the result earlier in the day the group has been thrown wide open.
A win for either Ghana or USA will see them go a long way to making it into the knockout stages of the World Cup.
The two countries have only met on one other occasion and in that match Ghana ran out 2-1 winners over the USA.
In a surprise move Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has kept experienced duo Michael Essien and Kevin-Prince Boateng on the bench
Here is how they line up.
Ghana: Adam Kwarasey, Daniel Opare, Kwadwo Asamoah, Jonathan Mensah, John Boye, Rabiu Mohammed, Christian Atsu, Sulley Muntari, Jordan Ayew, Asamoah Gyan, Andre Ayew.
USA: Tim Howard, Micahel Bradley, Matt Besler, DeMarcus Beasley, Clint Dempsey, Alejandro Bedoya, Jermain Jones, Kyle Beckerman, Jozy Altidore, Geoff Cameron, Fabian Johnson.
