Group D
Teams: England v Italy
Date: 14 June 2014
Venue: Arena Amazonia
England begin their World Cup campaign with a mouth-watering clash against the 2006 Champions, Italy, at Arena Amazonia.
Roy Hodgson's men haven't had the best of preparations for the World Cup, having only won one of their three warm-up clashes, while they drew with Ecuador and Honduras.
There has been a lot of controversy as to who should start for the Three Lions, with Wayne Rooney being the main topic of conversation.
On the other hand, Italy have a few injuries concerns of their own, with both goalkeepers, Gianluigi Buffon and Salvatore Sirigu carrying knocks and that could see third choice Mattia Perin got the nod.
The Azzuri will be hoping to better their 2010 showing, after they crashed out in the group stages in South Africa.
Although their form in the build-up to this clash has been less than convincing, as they failed to win any of their last four international friendlies.
The last time these two locked horns, England ran out 2-1 winners in an international friendly in, while the Italians knocked Hodgson's men out of the European Championship quarterfinal back in 2012.
